There's No Escaping (2012)
In this ongoing series of drawings, palm trees sprout unexpectedly out of people and in odd places. As someone who is originally from a tropical island country, to me palm trees signify familiarity and home. Their continued reappearance outside of their original context implies an inability to shake off one's ties to one's place of birth, no matter how far one moves away from it.
