Drift (2017)
Drift is large-scaled drawing- and print- installation depicting clusters of islands, clouds, and insects drifting and colliding into one another. Using Javanese and Chinese patterns and iconographies, Drift explores the impact of human activity on the ecosystem - shifting of shorelines due to land reclamation, and sand mining, for instance.. The impact that activity in one location may have on another location, such as an ash-cloud from volcanic activity in one island might change the colour of the sky thousands of miles away – is another area of investigation.
Drift has been exhibited as part of Animate: Diyan Achjadi and Alisi Telengut at the Carleton University Art Galleries (2017); Surface Handling: Diyan Achjadi and Brendan Tang at the Dunlop Art Gallery (2018); and Mantle at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (2019)
